Jack Nicklaus golf club on St. Lucia St. Lucia
Jack Arrives on St. Lucia
The members-only Jack Nicklaus Golf Club on St. Lucia's northern shore will be one of just 25 such Nicklaus clubs around the world (others include clubs on Anguilla, the Bahamas, Wyndansea in Canada, clubs in New Zealand, Patagonia, Tuscany, Muirfield Village and other locations). Seven holes will play parallel to the water and the rest will have dramatic views of the Caribbean.

Under the exclusive Raffles Hotels banner, 113 villa home sites, a 140-room 5-star resort hotel, 224 luxury condos, and a spa are underway. Rimmed with private bays and white sand beaches, the gorgeous property lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean.

Residents (which will include the Nicklaus family) and guests at the new Raffles St Lucia resort will enjoy two Nicklaus courses, a RafflesAmrita Spa, private beach clubs, infinity-edge pools and multiple dining venues. Plans are on the drawing boards for several more luxury hotels to open on the island in the next few years. Seven new signature golf courses are currently under development, as is a $100 million super-yacht marina.

Ambush Golf COurse at Lajitas in Texas Texas
New Course at Lajitas Resort and Spa
Lanny Wadkins Design Group is heading the creation of the new Ambush Golf Course at Lajitas, to be completed later this year; the former course is being entirely replaced and redesigned. 18 challenging holes are laid out in the rocky Chihuahua desert, with significant elevation changes and water hazards on the banks of the Rio Grande. The bonus hole consists of an irretrievable drive across the Rio Grande River into Mexico. A new executive course, pro shop and driving range are in the works, too.

Tucked away in West Texas between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park, on the riverbank along the Mexican border, Lajitas is a 25,000-acre estate with a 103-room lodge and about a hundred residential properties on offer. The original developer purchased an Old West ghost town and integrated the luxury-level lodgings, restaurants, shops and other venues into the vintage buildings, comprising a tourist attraction in itself. Among the amenities besides golf are the Agavita Spa, the Hunt Club, jeep tours, hiking and rafting, and the equestrian center. Originally an exclusive, private hideaway for members only, the resort is now open to the public for golf, spa, sightseeing, and lodging in hotel rooms, suites and private haciendas.
Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina South Carolina
Heaped with Awards
Kiawah Island Golf Resort is the only property in North America to have both a Mobil 5-star hotel (The Sanctuary), a golf course rated five stars by Golf Digest (The Ocean Course), and the 5-star rated The Sanctuary Luxury Spa, one of only 8 spas in the country to get the Mobile 5-star rating.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is an oceanfront property with a 255-room hotel, five championship golf courses, villas and private homes, two tennis centers, 9 restaurants and a wide variety of recreation and nature programs. Golf World readers say it's America's top resort, while Travel + Leisure magazine ranks it as the #3 resort in America. And, Travel + Leisure Family says it's the #1 family resort in the U.S. and Canada. AAA gives it 5 diamonds, too-whew!

Bear Mountain Resort for golf in the Canadian Rockies Canada
Nicklaus Again on Vancouver Island
The massive luxury resort and golf home community on Vancouver Island, a minutes from Victoria's downtown harbor, Bear Mountain Resort is opening the new Valley Course this summer. This is the second Nicklaus Design track at the resort. Meandering through evergreen forests around lakes and over rivers and streams, the par 70, 6,981 yard layout is at a lower elevation than its sister Mountain Course. Also opening this year is the Nicklaus Golf Academy.

With a daunting slope rating of 152 from the back tees, the Mountain Course is a 19-hole stunner that was the first ever collaboration of Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve. After opening in 2003, the Mountain was rated the #1 new course in Western Canada and 2 years later, #1 golf course in all of Canada.

Anchoring the resort, the 4-diamond Westin Bear Mountain Victoria Golf Resort and Spa features Fairway and Clubhouse guest rooms and suites done up in uber-chic urban style. The resort's Santé Spa was ranked among the top ten medical spas in the world by SpaFinder.
